I went to Twycross School for 12 years! Aged 4-16
I then went to a local sixth form college John Cleaveland in Hinckley before moving to Leeds to go to university.
After I moved back after 10 years in Leeds, I studied another degree at De Montfort University in Leicester
I got 8 GCSEs A-C
I got 4 A-Levels
I got a BSc Nurse degree at Leeds University
I started my career in oncology (cancer) where I looked after patients that were very poorly and dying. I then started to give chemotherapy to people with cancer.
I changed jobs from the hospital to work in the community giving people treatment in their own homes and training other nurses across the country.
I then moved to be a nurse in a doctors surgery.
I am a lead nurse at Barwell & Hollycroft Medical Practice and Strategic Nurse Lead for LLR Training Hub.
Doctors surgery in Leicestershire
I live with my husband and 2 children who are 3 and 10 years old. I love dancing, festivals and growing veggies in my allotment.
My pronouns are:
I work as a practice nurse in a large and busy doctors surgery in Leicestershire for 3 days a week and work for Leicestershire Training Hub for one day too.
My Typical Day:
I wake up, have breakfast, drop the kids off at school and head to work at the doctors surgery. I see patients for blood tests, do dressing on wounds, help people with asthma and diabetes, prescribe medications to patients. I come home, go to the gym or a run, cook tea and relax before bed.
If I work at the Training Hub, I work from home and have several meetings online and work on my computer all day.
At the practice I see all sorts of patients, including babies, children and the elderly. I give babies injections, see women for contraception, help people lose weight, give medications such as antibiotics if they have an infection. I look after people with learning disabilities too in the practice making sure they stay well. I also train the staff in the practice on various things including resuscitation to make sure they know how to save a life if someone collapses. I support the other doctors and nurses in their training and practice.
